Jerry E. Shiles is an Oklahoma Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorney and a member of the Oklahoma City law firm of Parman & Easterday, with additional offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Overland Park, Kansas.

Experience
For the past 42 years, Shiles has lectured extensively to professional groups in the United States, Europe and Japan, including the Army Judge Advocate Generals School, the Naval Justice School, and AARP. He has published numerous articles and treatises, is the author of the Law Review article “Protecting the Rights of Family Members Abroad”, is co-author of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section Practice Manual, and co-author of the book, Estate Planning Basics: A Crash Course in Safeguarding Your Legacy.
He is a member of the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, Nevada, and District of Columbia Bar Associations; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; the Oklahoma City Tax Lawyers Group; the Planned Giving Council of Oklahoma; the Oklahoma City Estate Planning Council; Legacy Leaders Serving Seniors, the Special Needs Alliance; and the American Bar Association. He served on the ABA Standing Committee on Legal Assistance to Military Personnel for four years.

Shiles served in the U.S. Army, active and reserve, for over 33 years as an Armor Officer, JAG Officer, Military Intelligence Officer, and Inspector General, commanding units at all levels from platoon to brigade. He also served as a legal advisor to the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
Education
Shiles earned his B.S. degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Dean’s List), his J.D. degree (with honors) from the University of Utah, an LLM from The Judge Advocate General’s School-Army, University of Virginia, a Certificate in German from the University of Connecticut, and a Masters degree in Strategic Planning from the United States Army War College.
Personal
As a retired colonel, Shiles is active in his community. He served on the Vance (Air Force Base) Development Authority; the Chamber of Commerce; the board of the Reserve Officers Association as National Judge Advocate, State President, and National Councilman; as The American Legion State Judge Advocate; and on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation as an Ambassador, Chairman of Operations, Chairman of Donor Initiatives, Vice President and currently as President. He is married to Donna Shiles and has two children and four grandchildren. In addition to participating in all their grandchildren’s events, they rescue and foster animals, mostly dogs and cats, on their ranch in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They have a menagerie of pygmy goats, rabbits, peacocks and horses, as well.
