Alex Pagnotta

Alex Pagnotta’s personal experience with the problems that can result from an inadequate estate plan along with his interest in helping others drove his desire to pursue the areas of estate planning and estate administration. He counsels individuals and families to preserve wealth and ensure that their hard earned assets are passing to the correct individuals when they want and how they want. He does this by analyzing all of the assets and understanding the particularized needs of each client. He then makes a recommendation regarding the best estate planning tools to meet and exceed the goals of the client. That recommendation could be establishing a trust, constructing a last will and testament, creating a tax plan, drafting Power of Attorney Documents with healthcare directives, or some combination of these estate planning tools. Separately from estate planning, he also understands that handling the estate of a deceased relative or friend can be a difficult time for all involved. As a result, Alex provides caring guidance through the probate or trust administration process. He assists clients with claim forms, gathering an inventory and accounting for all of the assets, and making distributions to beneficiaries after all expenses have been paid and all taxes completed. His guidance in assisting clients through this process in invaluable.

Experience

Alex is admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland. He is a member of the Estates and Trusts, Tax Law, and Disability Rights Sections and recently joined the Prince George’s County State Bar Association. Before joining Sinclair Prosser Gasior , Alex worked as an intern for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He then went on to work full time for the Department of Defense (DOD) for 5 years while simultaneously attending law school in the evenings. While a federal employee, Alex worked in the Investigation Division where he received many awards for his investigative work. His former background as an investigator complements his ability to stay up to date with the law and ensure that each estate planning and administration option is being used for the full benefit of the client. Alex is also a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys where he is required to complete at least 36 hours of continuing education per year.

Education

Alex graduated with cum laude honors from the University of Maryland, College Park with his Bachelor of Arts degree. While in college, he was a member of Maryland’s NCAA Division I wrestling team and earned a Terrapin award for having the highest Grade Point Average among athletes. He was also a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) All-Academic team. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, again graduating with cum laude honors. While attending law school, he was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for the highest grade in courses focusing on legal writing, client advocacy, and evidence law.

Personal

Alex was born in Maryland and has spent his entire life in the state. He currently resides in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife. Alex is a Baltimore Ravens football fan, and he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and family on the Chesapeake Bay.
