William F. Nichols

Bill was born at Boise, Idaho and has lived his entire life in the Pacific Northwest. After graduating from high school at Burns, Oregon he attended Linfield College at McMinnville, Oregon where he majored in Business Administration and Political Science, receiving his B.A. magna cum laude in 1977, and where he was also selected by the Economics/Business faculty as that year’s outstanding graduate in that discipline. He then attended the University of Oregon, School of Law, at Eugene, Oregon where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1980.

Experience

After passing the Oregon bar exam in 1980 he joined a three lawyer firm in Nyssa, Oregon. In 1986 he passed the Idaho bar exam. He stayed in Nyssa until 1999 when he left to join White Peterson at Nampa, Idaho. At White Peterson his practice has included estate planning, probate, business entity formation, municipal law, real estate, and collections. He served as the city attorney for Meridian, Idaho from 2000 to 2004, and was appointed city attorney for McCall, Idaho in 2005, a post that he still holds. In his capacity as an attorney he has testified before the Idaho Legislature and has lectured on numerous topics to various groups. He has also taught Human Resources and Employment Law in the MBA program at Northwest Nazarene University.

Education

Bill holds an AV Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating issued by that publisher which is derived from surveys of practicing lawyers and judges. He also has a 10.0 rating from Avvo.com. He received the President’s Award from the Idaho Municipal Attorneys in 2009, and the Idaho State Bar Professionalism Award in 2010.

Personal

Bill’s public service includes serving on the governing council of the Real Property Section of the Idaho State Bar, including the Chairmanship in 2005; Board member and President of the Idaho Municipal Attorneys; and service as an arbitrator for the Idaho State Bar’s fee dispute arbitration panel in the 3rd Judicial District. Bill’s wife Pam is a former teacher of 17 years and currently operates a property management business from home. They have two daughters and one grandson.
