As both a lawyer and a certified public accountant, Cathy’s practice emphasizes tax and estate planning and tax controversy matters (both federal and state), closely-held and family businesses, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions and other business and real estate matters. Cathy works with many closely-held and family businesses and financial institutions in areas such as succession planning, the structure and formation of business entities, including various forms of partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations; operations; transactions; like-kind exchanges; regulatory matters; mergers and acquisitions; entity conversions; restructuring, reorganization and division of business entities; dissolutions; and dispute resolution. She also works with business owners and others on personal and estate planning matters.
She is a member of the firm’s General Business and Transactions Practice Group and also serves as the leader of the firm’s Tax, Employee Benefits and Estate Planning and Trust Practice Group. She is listed in Great Plains Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review. Prior to attending law school, Cathy was employed as Tax Manager at RSM US, a national accounting firm.
